Biblical Proofs for Catholic Teachings
(Apoyo Bíblico para Enseñanzas Católicas)
The Virgin Mary (La Virgen María)
If the Bible says that Jesus had siblings, how can we think Mary remained a Virgin even after Jesus' birth?
Mary was human, so didn't she commit sins like the rest of us?
Salvation (Salvación)
Don't Catholics believe you have to earn salvation? Doesn't the need for good works mean Jesus' sacrifice was insufficient? What about Rom. 3:28, 5:1, and Eph. 2:8-9?
|
The Pope (El Papa)In Matthew 16, is it Peter or Peter's faith that is the rock on which Jesus builds His Church?
Did the earliest Christians believe in the authority of the Pope?
Praying to the Saints in HeavenJesus is our sole mediator (1 Tim. 2:5), so how can Catholics say dead saints mediate for us from heaven? Isn't prayer to the dead the same as necromancy, which God forbids (Deut. 18:10-12)?
|
Icons and Statues (Imagenes y Estatuas)
Catholics make images and bow down before them. Doesn't God clearly forbid this in Ex. 20:4-5? Isn't this a form of idolatry?
PurgatoryThe Bible never mentions the word "Purgatory," so why believe in it? Is it possible to spend eternity anywhere else but heaven or hell?
Indulgences (Indulgencias Plenarias)
Do Catholics still believe in indulgences? Isn't an indulgence just a way to buy your way into heaven?
|
Sabbath (El Sábado)
God made it a commandment that we keep the Sabbath (i.e. Saturday). Why do Catholics worship on Sunday?
The Reliability of the Gospels
Weren't the Gospels originally anonymous? Were they written hundreds of years after Jesus?

The Question that No Protestant Can Answer
(La Pregunta a que Ningún Protestante Tiene Respuesta)
Pardon the clickbait-esque headline. Apart from the headline's being designed to draw traffic, however, the question I intend to present is genuine and is not intended to be incendiary or insulting to my Protestant brothers and sisters. It is a simple question and one that I ask humbly:
How do you know what books should be in the Bible? What if there are books that are in there that shouldn't be in there, or books that were mistakenly left out?
History shows that the Catholic Church made these decisions--She gave us the Bible--at the Councils of Hippo (393AD) and Carthage (419AD). If we accept that the Holy Spirit inspired sinful men to write the Bible, don't we also have to conclude that the Holy Spirit inspired sinful men (i.e. the 4th & 5th Century Catholic bishops) to compile the Bible? And if the Catholic Church was inspired by the Holy Spirit hundreds of years after the apostles, why not still today?

Evangelism is just one beggar telling another beggar where to find bread."
("El evangelismo es nada más que un mendigo informando un otro donde se ubica pan.")
